The Pithy Take

Capitalism, as demonstrated by this week’s Non-fiction Feature, is malleable. To reshape it into a structure that serves the greater population, as opposed to only the wealthy few, knowing your representatives is crucial. A Starting Point is a video-based civic engagement platform that creates a bipartisan channel of communication and connectivity between Americans and their elected officials with the goal of creating a more informed electorate.

There are different types of engagement:
– Starting Points (two-minute answers to common questions by elected officials);
– Daily Points (a forum for elected officials to make a point in under two minutes);
– Counterpoints (a discussion between two members from across the aisle);
– Explores (conversations from behind the scenes that define and demystify politics and key issues); and
– Chats (videos featuring discussions with U.S. lawmakers).

ASP is helpful, informative, dispels some of the fog surrounding complicated issues, and encourages a clear avenue of communication from our representatives.
