The Pithy Take

A helpful volume that condenses a very complicated document into easily digestible pieces, including segments such as “How Does This Affect Me?” to bring constitutional theories into clearer focus for children. There are snippets of case law, fast facts about the Constitution’s history, ways kids can get involved in the civic process, and explanations of legal terms such as “defendant” and “prosecution.” A nice book to have around, even for adults!

Just because slavery is no longer legal in America doesn’t mean it’s over! As of 2013, nearly 30 million people were reported to be living as slaves around the world (including in the U.S.). Human trafficking—transporting people from one country to another to force them to work—is a huge problem that many people are trying to stop.
