The Pithy Take

Probability is everywhere, even when you’re little. This fun children’s book describes very basic concepts—small chances, equal chances, things that might happen, things that can’t happen, etc.—using a cute Boston terrier. A fast read, but engaging enough to go back and slowly explain probabilistic terms and ideas to your child.


The last group has three greens, one red, two oranges, and four purples. So the chances of getting each color are unequal. He asks us, ‘Which color has the highest chance of being picked?’ We say purple because there are four purples out of ten jelly beans in all.
